A Letter from the Author,
Dr. Edward Robinson
Over the past sixty years I have experimented with the impact of African history on the minds of our children, especially with the ability of doing abstract reasoning such as mathematics. I have conducted some eighteen demonstrations on the increase of academic proficiency and behavioral improvement when coupled with the children learning about their glorious African cultural and physical history
At the Leeds Middle School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania I was fortunate to be part of a major experiment based on the children learning their African history. These three hundred children in the seventh grade had terrorized the neighborhood and the school with 328 behavioral offenses. Their marks were low. In September of 1993, we began the African Genesis program. It was conducted under the on-site direction of lead teacher Christine Thomas-Wiggins. It was based on the African cultural and physical history contained in our book The Journey of the Songhai People by Robinson, Robinson and Battle.
These same children for the whole year reduced their offenses from 328 down to an amazing 65. They raised their academics to a high B+. The computers at the School Administration Building tracked this.
But the Philadelphia School Superintendent said, that yes, it was amazing, but the white-dominated union would not allow our African history to be taught, and Black teachers wouldn't fight for it being taught. This was so even though the proof was on the School Administration computers.
During the summer of 1993, at William Penn High School, also in Philadelphia, we took 300 students, many of them under court parole, and turned them around similarly in academics and in behavior- by teaching them African history.
Despite the proof, our children are still denied the knowledge of their glorious history. It is wonderful that the d'Zert Club's Teen Summit 1000 Program is supplying this missing factor for the edification of your children.
It is a must that all living animals relate to their ancestral home in a positive way for them to reach the height of their potential. Birds and salmon must return to their ancestral home to mate. This is called Territorial Imperative. White people teach their children the glories of ancient Greece, Rome and France, of England, of Germany, etc. Because they know their history, the Orientals teach it to their children, whether the schools teach it or not. However, during our period of captivity, white men beat and even killed our fathers and mothers for daring to institute the learning about our glorious history. That is why the vast majority of you don't know it.
It is important to differentiate between African history and African American history. Many of you know some of the latter. Our children have been learning African American history since 1926. Yet, as of September 2000, the Philadelphia School District announced that the scores in standardized tests show that the whites are pulling even farther ahead in scores over our children. Yet, as indicated above, with only one year of learning of AFRICAN history our children excelled.
I clearly believe that our children, exposed as they are to African Genesis under the Teen Summit 1000 program will soar like the eagles.
